We’re guessing it was the special Sibling’s Day video that was posted by our Gen-Z star Sara Ali Khan along with her brother Ibrahim Khan, where the brother-sister duo were seen having coffee. The only difference was that Mr. Khan was drinking a creamy, frothy cold coffee, while Sara was drinking a cold black coffee with no sugar and no milk for weight control.

This was something that literally brought us ‘the eureka moment’ because we all know that hot black coffee is known for weight loss. The problem is that in the summer season, drinking hot black coffee is almost impossible and coffee lovers can just sulk in silence.

Who would have thought, right? When we asked expert nutritionist Parul Malhotra about the benefits of cold black coffee, her jaw dropped.

1. Cold black coffee also speeds up your metabolism.

Like hot brewed coffee, cold brewed coffee contains caffeine, which has been shown to increase your resting metabolic rate by up to 11 percent. Caffeine increases your metabolic rate by increasing how quickly your body burns fat.

2. Stops glucose production

Hot/cold black coffee contains chlorogenic acid, which helps slow down glucose production in the body. This means that if you drink coffee only after a meal, your body will produce less glucose and fat cells.

3. Cold coffee keeps you energized

Cold-brewed black coffee is rich in caffeine, which helps stimulate metabolic activity and increases energy levels, which suppresses hunger. This makes you eat less and helps you keep tabs on your extra calorie intake.

“Also, cold brewed coffee is less bitter than hot brewed coffee, which helps people drink it without additives like cream, milk, or sugar (main reasons for adding calories),” says Parul Malhotra.

4. It is a low-calorie drink that is excellent for weight loss

Cold black coffee is a low-calorie drink, and also contains no fat or cholesterol. This means that you do not gain weight by drinking it even on a daily basis.

5. Cold black coffee also prevents fluid retention

If you find that your lower abdomen is too bulky, it is due to fluid retention. And cold brew coffee is here to rescue you. Apart from weight loss, the other benefit of cold black coffee is the reduction of water content in the body.
