“Stomach-related problems can be very unpleasant. People suffer from heartburn and bloating, especially after a heavy meal. Many simply resort to taking an antacid to get some relief, but taking pills regularly is not a good idea. There are certain home remedies that you can try to help solve your digestive problems. One of them is the combination of mint powder, ajwain, black jeera and a glass of water,” says Jaiswal.
This is how you can prepare this drink for indigestion:
Ingredients you will need:
1 glass of water
1 tablespoon mint powder
1 tablespoon of ajwain
1 tablespoon of black jeera (cumin)
How to prepare
Mix the cumin seeds and ajwain in the jar of water, add the mint powder and leave it overnight. In the morning, strain the water into a container and drink it after your meal. You can also drink it first thing in the morning for better digestion.
In fact, according to Jaiswal, you can drink it in the form of tea. Boil the water left overnight until it reduces by half. To enhance the flavor, you can add a little lemon or ginger to your tea.
How does this help in your digestion?
The two main ingredients involved, cumin and ajwain seeds, have several health benefits, especially when it comes to digestion. Ajwain has active enzymes that improve the flow of stomach acids. This helps with problems like indigestion, bloating, and gas. Ajwain is also known to help sores in the esophagus, stomach, and intestine. It improves metabolism and can also be helpful for weight loss.
Similarly, cumin seeds, especially black jeera, help reduce symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), such as stomach pain and bloating. They are packed with antioxidants that not only improve digestion, but also increase metabolic rate,” says Jaiswal. Drinking jeera water can help remove toxic elements from your body. It also improves appetite. Furthermore, kaala jeera is packed with essential vitamins like vitamin A, C and K.
Aside from this, mint is also a crucial ingredient in this digestive mix. The mint powder in the drink has antiseptic and antibacterial properties that help soothe an upset stomach and ease digestion.
