Have you ever heard someone say that peeing can be bad for you? Well, we’re not exactly talking about that, but what we want to tell you is that if you often run to the toilet after dinner, it’s not a good sign.
dr. Santosh Palkar, Consultant – Urologist, Zen Multispeciality Hospital, says we need to be vigilant about doing this because frequent urination, especially after eating food, can indicate an underlying health problem.
Blame the high sugar in your food on frequent urination
Do you find yourself constantly peeing after eating? This may be due to a high sugar intake. Did you know that having a lot of sugar can increase the acidity of your urine, giving bacteria a good environment and allowing the infection to thrive.
“In addition, having a lot of sugar will lead to a spike in blood sugar and an increased amount of urine that can be produced by the body. But if a person has to urinate frequently or if it is necessary to go to the toilet immediately after eating or drinking this could be a symptom of a disease,” Dr. Palkar tells Health Shots.
Here we tell you about the other possible reasons for frequent urination after eating
- Having an enlarged prostate: An enlarged prostate can put pressure on the urethra (the tube that carries urine out of the body). This can block the flow of urine by damaging the bladder wall. The bladder will contract even if there is a small amount of urine, and you will need to go to the bathroom very often.
- Interstitial cystitis causes pain in the bladder and pelvic area. This condition therefore causes you to urinate often.
- A stroke or other neurological disorders cause damage to the nerves that supply the bladder. Therefore, it can cause frequent urination.
- An infection or a kidney stone problem can cause you to urinate more often.
- Weak pelvic floor muscles can also cause you to urinate frequently.
- Drinking too much water before eating can also lead to urination.
- Both type 1 and type 2 raise your blood sugar and cause frequent urination.
- Urinary tract infection (UTI) is also one of the causes of frequent urination.
- The water content in food materials can cause you to urinate frequently.
Is there a solution for frequent urination? yes there is
According to Dr. Palkar you can try Kegel exercises. You can do any of the following exercises:
- Cone bridge or bridge pose
- cone fold
- cone clamshell
- Cone table top
All of these exercises require you to hold the pose to strengthen your muscles. The longer you hold the positions, the better your pelvic muscle will get.
The bottom line is that if you have to go to the washroom immediately after eating, you just need to see the doctor and get appropriate treatment for the illness or condition that requires frequent urination.
